HISTORY

"I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

A journey of faith, service, and God’s faithfulness spanning over a century of ministry, worship, and community impact.

The Beginning of a Mission (1856 – 1903)
  • In 1856, three missionaries—William Taylor, William Butler, and Thoborn—were sent to India by the Methodist Conference in America, founded by John Wesley.
  • In 1874, Rev. William Taylor established the Methodist Episcopal Church ministry among Tamil-speaking people, laying the foundation for what would become Methodist Tamil Church, Vepery.
  • The evangelistic work flourished under Dr. A.R. Rudisil, and in 1903 Mr. Naidu became the first Indian Pastor of the church.

  • In 1917, the present church building was constructed under the supervision of Mr. J. Kinham and dedicated by Bishop J.C. Robinson H.
  • The years between 1911 and 1931 are remembered as the Golden Era of the church, marked by significant growth and spiritual revival.
